3 Warning Signs You Need to Outsource Stuff in Your Online Business

Have you ever looked in the mirror and not liked what you’ve seen?

Now, I’m NOT talking about WHAT you physically look like or whether you’re having a bad hair day, but more about WHAT YOU’VE BECOME.

Regardless of where each of us is in the  “Entrepreneurial Journey”, at one point or another many of us will experience a “burn out” phase. Let me paint a “less than pretty picture”…

Your online business is growing like crazy and sales are rolling in. You’re chained to your computer 12-15 hours per day. The demands, the deadlines, the competing priorities are mounting up. You have become a chain coffee drinker mixing in a few Red Bulls here and there to keep alert. You’ve resorted to eating most of your meals at your desk to save time and get more done. Thoughts about work consume every part of your being. The time spent with your wife and kids is minimal and even where you’re with them, you’re NOT present. But, business is growing well, sales are happening. You’re living the entrepreneurial dream right?

Well, not exactly…

I once heard a successful entrepreneur say…”I chose the entrepreneurial life, so I could have the freedom and flexibility to schedule my 18 hour work day whenever I please!”

This might not entirely describe you YET, but if your business is experiencing some growth, at one point or another your business demands will exceed your personal and professional capacity.

Here are THREE major warning signs that it might be time to make some changes and potentially outsource some stuff in your online business…

1. Personal Stress & Anxiety

Yes, this is an obvious symptom that it’s time to make some changes in your business. Life is fragile and we all know the long-term health implications of living with constant stress and anxiety.

… On your body

  • Headache
  • Muscle tension or pain
  • Chest pain
  • Fatigue
  • Stomach upset
  • Sleep problems

… On your mood

  • Anxiety
  • Restlessness
  • Lack of motivation or focus
  • Irritability or anger
  • Sadness or depression

… On your behavior

  • Overeating or under eating
  • Angry outbursts
  • Drug or alcohol abuse
  • Tobacco use
  • Social withdrawal

This might seem like common sense, but sometimes as entrepreneurs, we operate in a vacuum and are completely oblivious to how our high-demand, online business is personally impacting us until… CRASH!

If your business is growing and you’re feeling over extended, then it might be time to start building a team and hire a virtual assistant to take away some time-consuming tasks that are creating undue stress.

2. Things Falling Through the Cracks

You may have seen a stage performer like this one balancing many spinning plates!

These plates represent the many roles and responsibilities you have in your online business and eventually plates start breaking…

Deadlines get missed, important calls are forgotten, and critical tasks are done poorly

If you are doing too many things, you will inevitably fall into the trap of “not doing anything well”.

This will inevitably KILL your business (and potentially your reputation).

3. Missed Opportunities

At one point or another, most entrepreneurs are guilty of working IN their business rather than ON their business. In other words, they are so bogged down with the day-to-day demands that they don’t create space for “creative time” to dream, vision cast and identify new opportunities for scaling up the business.

For example; you may be currently generating traffic from your blog and social media and are not growing as quickly as you would like.  You know you need to invest the time to build relationships with prospective JV partners in your market, but where’s the time?

Yet, another missed opportunity to grow your business.

These three warning signs cannot be ignored!

If you’re going to build the online business you’ve always wanted, there will come a time when you “hit a ceiling” and are no longer growing and yet are personally extended beyond what you can manage.

Heed Your Personal Warning System

In the Pacific Ocean, there is a sophisticated Tsunami Warning System that’s sole purpose is to monitor seismological activity and to assess and issue warnings on the potential of a Tsunami happening.

I hope this post will serve as a “Warning System” for you to make some changes and to consider outsourcing some stuff in your business.
